some thoughts

Here I am...3:20 AM doing homework for Mortgae Backed Securities. Life sucks big time man...I had done this homework 2 days back...but apparently the data given was to be interpreted differently. So, now I have to do it all again. And the TA posted this the last day before submission. I feel like gouging his eyes and frying him alive in a cauldron of hot oil!! Anyway...life's like that.

I was just listening to this song by Bhupinder in "Gharonda"...."Ek akela is shaher me". I can picturize Amol Palekar whenever I hear this song. He was so much the middle class protagonist in all of the movies he made. The Hrishikesh Mukherjee flicks featurng Amol Palekar are fabulous, who can forget "Golmaal".

The lyrics of the song moved me so much, I am gonna post them here. Here goes....

"Ek Akela Is Shahar Mein Raat Mein Aur Dopahar Mein
Aabodaana Dhoondta Hai Aashiyana Dhoondta Hai

Din Khali Khali Bartan Hai Aur Raat Hai Jaise Andha Kuan
In Sooni Andheri Aankhon Se Aansoon Ki Jagah Aata Hain Dhuan
Jeene Ki Vajah To Koi Nahi Marne Ka Bahana Dhoondta Hai

Ek Akela Is Shahar Mein...
In Umar Se Lambi Sadkon Ko Manzil Pe Pohonchte Dekha Nahin
Bas Daudti Phirti Rahti Hain Humne To Theherte Dekha Nahin
Is Ajnabi Se Shahar Mein Jaana Pehechana Dhoondta Hai
Ek Akela Is Shahar Mein..".

I can't help but reflect on how my situation is identical with Amol in the movie. The sad lilting tune of this song touches very deeply. Whenever I listen to any sad songs, I remember one of the lines from "Bawarchi" where Rajesh Khanna says " Khushi ke geet to fuljhariyan jaisi hoti hai par dukh ke geet agarbatti ki tarah hoti hai...jalne ke baad bhi bahut der tak mehek aati hai"

Anyway...enough of reflections for today....back to work
